Yoga event raises £520

Thanks to two-time SCAD survivor Rowena, who raised £250 by organising a yoga event

Many thanks to Rowena Breese for raising £520 by organising a yoga event.

She is a two-time SCAD survivor (2018 & 2024) and says ‘I've recently qualified as a yoga teacher. I can hand on heart say that practising yoga has been the best medicine for my mental and physical recovery.’

There were 18 attendees, ranging from those with just a small amount of yoga experience, to those with 25 years’ experience. SCAD expert Dr David Adlam and his wife, Linda, came along, too, and Rowena said, ‘It was an absolute honour for me to share my yoga practice with Dr Adlam.’

She told us, ‘Everyone was welcomed with 'heart-warming' tea. I introduced myself and told everyone about my SCAD stories and how I found yoga. Everyone was given the opportunity to introduce themselves and say why they were there.

‘We did some breathwork exercises, asanas and meditation. We shared what we are all grateful for and finished with wellbeing tea and heart-shaped goodies baked by my mum.’

Rowena also sold the tote bags sporting her artwork, which she very generously allows Beat SCAD to sell in our shop.

One of the group, Marion, said, ‘Thank you for a most relaxing yesterday afternoon! I slept deeply last night and attribute that to your session! You alone created that atmosphere of space, care, emotions, positivity and warmth – that all comes from the heart, so a big well done! When’s the next one?!’

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this wonderful event.
