SCAD patient’s son fundraising for Beat SCAD

Will, whose mum had a SCAD 10 years ago, is raising money for Beat SCAD at the Brighton Marathon

Will, whose mum had a SCAD 10 years ago, is raising money for Beat SCAD.

He told us, ‘I’m a recent graduate from the University of Reading and I’ll be running the Brighton Marathon raising money for Beat SCAD. My mum, Cathy, had a heart attack caused by SCAD whilst swimming in 2015.

‘As a healthy 44-year-old, we were all worried and confused as to how this could have happened,’ he continued.

‘Healthcare professionals diagnosed SCAD, but were unable to provide any further information, recommendations or advice at that time. After searching online, Cathy enrolled on Dr David Adlam’s Leicester research programme and found the Beat SCAD community.

‘We are forever grateful for Beat SCAD’s pioneering work, which played a fundamental role in Cathy’s full recovery.

‘I hope, that in some small way, my fundraising helps raise awareness of SCAD and helps Beat SCAD continue their amazing work.’

Thank you, Will, and good luck with the training!
