Another chance for SCAD patients to take part in important research

Pregnant or post-partum SCAD patients can take part in an online research study about heart health in pregnancy

PREG-HEART is the first UK-wide, direct-to-patient, online research study, being done dedicated to heart health in pregnancy.

Heart disease is the leading cause of serious illness and death for pregnant women in the UK, and the number of pregnant women with heart disease is rising. Despite advancements in medicine and research, this has been the case for many years, and there are very few research studies looking specifically at maternal heart health.

Researchers are looking for women living in the UK who are:

  • Currently pregnant or have been pregnant in the past, and were diagnosed with heart disease before, during, or up to 6 months post-pregnancy;
  • Currently pregnant and do not have heart disease.

As far as the SCAD community is concerned, any one ever diagnosed with P-SCAD (pregnancy-related SCAD) whose SCAD either happened during pregnancy or up to 6 months after delivery, and any SCAD patient who has a pregnancy after SCAD would be eligible to join this research.

The study is running as a pilot until August 2026 but the organisers hope to secure further funding to keep it open long-term if the pilot phase is successful.

Signing up only takes a few minutes, and it could help to improve maternity care for many women in the future. See information below and sign up at The HeartHive
